Last night was crazy…

After classes were over and it was too dark to play tennis, I walked up Broadway and stumbled into a parade of mourners of the dead. Most conspicuous were a group of Latinos holding candles wrapped in white paper. I think that most of them were wearing white also, but that might be wishful thinking. Interspersed among them were strong middle-aged men carrying the burden of what seemed to be very large wooden planks strapped onto each of their backs. As they stumbled past, I realized that the back side of each of the planks was covered in flowers surrounding the large letters “FDNY”. Very few people were laughing. Can you see the relation to physical computing?

Also, in Little Italy, the San Gennaro Festival is in full swing. I have first-hand reports that if you ask any beefy Italian where to find “The World’s Smallest Woman”, you may, for the price of a dollar, sit quietly with a Haitian woman named Tiny Tasha measuring 24 inches tall. Once inside, for another dollar, she’ll hand you a photo of herself.
