It is a yearly tradition here to survey the web traffic coming to the site in the past year. Here is a breakdown of traffic sources, i.e. how people got here.

As you can see, besides search results from Google, our primary source of traffic is the inimitably ignoble Handy Instrumental, bringing us a whopping 1,216 visits this year. Compare this to last year’s analysis.
Since Handy links directly to us only very occasionally from the post copy on his site, it is safe to assume that the vast majority of those hits are from people clicking in the “My Peeps” links on the right side of his main page. Given that the link to our site is towards the bottom of that list, on the far right side of the page, it is most likely that anybody clicking that link knows where it is and has, in fact, gone looking for it. Hi – yes, that’s you!
So those 1,216 visitors are presumably people who know us. Random visitors to the site are getting here via Google search, amounting to some 1,559 + 293 + 142 = 1994 visitors this past year. Here’s what they’re looking for:

Who would have thought that searches for Peter Luger Hamburger and for Shackmeister Ale would lead people directly here? And banya posts still get a steady uncapitalized trickle of hits. And there are always those unmistakable top results that lead nowhere. This has not been a good year for ramen noodles or NYPD rifle permits.
